ISN: Interactive Student Notebook
Each student is required to keep a three-subject notebook in our classroom. This is his/her ISN, which contains daily warm-up assignments, notes taken during class, and many other reading, grammar, and vocabulary activities.
One main component of our ISN is foldable assignments. Foldables give students a chance to arrange their notes in an interactive way. Many foldable designs allow students to quiz themselves on information learned in class by opening flaps to reveal important definitions, facts, and examples. Students are allowed to take the ISN home as often as needed to study notes. It is the student's responsibility to bring his/her ISN back to class the following day. Each student's ISN will be checked periodically for organization and required content. This notebook check will be counted as a grade. Book Reviews
Students should be reading their library books daily, as this increases reading comprehension and expands vocabulary. Book Review due dates will be announced at least one month prior to the date they are due.

These are just a few of the assignments we will complete throughout the year. Check this page for project due dates, information, and downloadable documents.
Research ProjectArgumentative Research Project:
There are four components to this project, and each is worth 100 points. Due dates are posted in our classroom and will be updated weekly. It is each student's responsibility to complete and turn in each phase of the research project by the due date for that particular phase. Tentative Schedule: 1. Research Packet- Due TBA 2. Cluster Diagram- Due TBA 3. First & Second Rough Drafts- Due TBA 4. Final Typed Draft & Works Cited- Due TBA 5. Research Presentation- Due TBA
*Adequate time to complete each phase of this project will be given during class. If a student does not complete his/her work during class, the remainder of the assignment must be completed as homework. Failure to turn in an assignment by the due date will result in a loss of points. Regardless of the number of days late, the assignment will only count at 60% of the total number of points if turned in late. Students with excused absences must consult with me the day of their return for an alternate due date. This date will be determined according to the number of days absent from school.
